A World of Paper on exhibit in Venice
Palazzo Fortuny presents A World of Paper - Isabelle de Borchgrave meets Mariano Fortuny that will last from March 15, 2008 to July 21, 2008.
The show exhibits a wide range of paper clothes by Isabelle de Borchgrave, accompanied by accessories and trompe-l'oeil created from the imagination of the Belgium artist using just paper. Inside the Fortuny museum, you can enter three-dimensional models and interesting environments over three floors.
For her creations, Isabelle de Borchgrave always starts with a simple sheet of white paper to transform it, giving it numerous colors and effects, like silk, damask, lace and pleating.
Thanks to this show, the curators tried to recreate a Fortuniano environment that represents the cultural inheritance left by Mariano Fortuny, from whom the building gets its name, who was able to influence de Borchgrave as an artist - a painter, designer, stylist and director. The show is a tribute the Fortuny's genius.
Sika created a book-catalogue for the A World of Paper show for the occasion.
